Church, simply, is a group of people who gather to worship God, learn the way of Jesus and serve the world. It’s not complicated, it's not a building, and it’s not too holy to do anywhere. Rather, it is people gathered to be something this world needs now, people who learn to live more and more like Jesus.
We gather around the repeatable rhythms of Jesus' life:
up (connection with the Father), in (connection with each other), and out (connection with the world.)
Typically, all our Micro Churches look a little different, depending on the group of people and the corner of the city they're serving. Most often, we will dive into a liturgy of prayer, eating food, communion, guided readings, a discussion on a passage of scripture, serving our neighbors, and sharing our lives together.
Simply put, we need each other. We need a community to walk through life with us. We need to challenge each other and accompany each other in learning the way of Jesus. We need to hold each others burdens and pray together. We need to be God’s presence to each other. We need to serve alongside each other and teach our kids the way of Jesus. We need to worship and read and listen to God, together.
Whoever is a part of your life can be a part of your MicroChurch. Grab a few friends, your extended family, neighbors, softball team or just people you want to hang out with. Micro Church works best if its with people you are already connected to, or, as we say, your people of peace.
